I'm no help because I have not hunted moose there, but I have had a few friends go. It depends on where you are going but it is always a challenge with weather. I have heard a lot of stories on that. LOL

Not exactly sure for lack of not remembering the name, but I believe it’s north east of Palmer, in a 50” area.

I learned better than that very quickly !...as did you I am sure ! See the mountain to the right in the picture with the two antlers? That's where those two moose came from. They came out on our backs over the course of days. That's the worst I ever experienced.

Yes, hard work for sure when you a big game animal on the ground. Even as hard as it is I always enjoy packing them out. I know that sounds crazy but for me it is all about the hunt and the adventure. I have packed many big game out on my back with help on some trips but still enjoy the challenge to get that animal out.

Sheesh !! Good thing they were little ones The top pic is the same general area but a different hunt in a different year. That one was no picnic. One of the guys with us shut down in a spruce swamp and refused to move. It was at night and we were two or three miles away from camp. He didn't like the discomfort of lugging my moose and was a little disgruntled by it. What do you do when you have a grown man refuse to budge? He didn't get another invitation to hunt with us. I don't suppose he was bothered by the slight.

Looks like tough walking in the top picture.
The lower one looks like you could possibly get a Cub in nearby...at least the soil looks solid Right on both counts. Flew in in a Widgeon on one hunt and a 206 on the other. I think you could have put a Cub down easy enough but that never dawned on us.

Not trying to sound smart or anything, but saying you drew a Moose tag in Alaska is sort of like saying you drew an elk tag in the lower 48. A little more information would help. GMU, Hunt number, etc.

It's probably GMU13. You won't be lonely. FYI you don't have to put in for a draw to hunt moose in Alaska. If it is GMU13, you didn't win much.
