dont like the sleep number beds b/c of the bar down the middle. otherwise it is comfortable enough.

we checked out several at the store, and ended up with a hybrid that has a basic spring mattress on the bass and then 6" memory foam on top of that.
we've had it for about 3 years and it is very comfortable. still not cheap though, but worth it for us

Wife and I both have our own sleep num bed. Pricey yes, but we love them when my back starts bothering me I can always tweak the pressure to be comfortable.

I looked at mattress reviews on line, purple, and a couple others had high ratings, I think a thousand dollars or less
I think some are for side sleepers, some for back

I purchased one. Total Junk. The pumps are always kicking on. They are not comfortable. I junked mine, and ordered a $299 mattress. I'll tell you something to look at, and that is these cheap mattresses that come in a box, and expand. I have a couple of these in a cabin, they are pretty nice.

All I remember is always making sure the hoses were tight, or they leaked. The pump always kicking on. They are just not comfortable. And the stupid thing has an "anti snore button" yea, like a mattress blowing up to a certain firmness is going to keep you from snoring.

I also bought the frame that elevates in the front and back, it's ok. I have it adjusted at one height and never move it.

Go with a cheap decent mattress , maybe at Costco. You will be much happier. Heh.. I was driving down the road the other day and saw a brand new mattress in a bag along side the road, apparently it fell off a car/truck.

Hey, Fire Fly Guy. I know that's a tough expensive decision. Here's one thought that may or may not be an available option in your area - at one time, you could test out newer beds by staying at certain participating hotel chains. I was staying at a Radisson hotel at one time that featured Sleep Number beds, along with advertising and a discount code to use if you went to a store and purchased one. I thought that placing newer brands of beds at hotels to try out was a nice idea because you could actually get a night or two of sleeping on one to form an opinion. That was a few years ago, but it may be worth looking around on the manufacturer's website to see if they mention promotions linked to hotels.

Too funny. Zim and I were staying at a hotel with the split king Sleep Number bed, and after I went to sleep, he said he liked to steal my remote and run my side up and down just to watch me go up and down on an elevator ride in my sleep. We are easily entertained! laugh

Good luck with your decision!

Bought a new pillow top mattress hoping to help with back issues! Didn’t help! Decided to visit a Sleep Number store. We already had a platform bed, so we purchased just the mattress and controller. I was skeptical at first, but you need to “learn your settings”. My wife likes hers at around 60. Mine varies but is usually set at 100. We have had the Sleep Number mattress for about 15 years now and for the most part, my back problems are gone! Best mattress I have ever slept on!

I would caution anyone to learn your settings to get the most satisfaction from the mattress!

My wife and I tried one once. We hated it because there's a "ridge" or hump in between the two separate sides. It's almost like two mattresses sewed up inside one cover. We like to sleep right next to each other and found that we roll away from each other because that dang ridge in the middle. It seemed like it was there even if we pumped both sides all the way up.

A bit off the subject. What is 'support'? I hear folks that like a soft mattress say it gives them support because they sink down in it enough that it touches more parts of their body, thereby 'supporting' them. Guys like me prefer a firm mattress and consider sinking to be non-support.
