any advice would be greatly appreciated!

last week changed the water pump. still at best Luke warm heat coming from vents wether defrost floor or face vents. due to the minus 20 to 30 temperatures this week I put a piece of card board in front of radiator and still no change.
today I changed the heater core (needed a new one bad) old one was very corroded and could see it had to be original. filled back up with antifreeze... blows warmer now but still isn't as hot as it ist to be.
I changed the thermostat last summer.
on full fan it's a tad cooler than one speed doen.
now for the one thing that confuses me most is
turn dial to max a.c. and the air coming out is hotter than on any other setting.

any ideas on what it could be?? I am stumped!

Thank you in advance guys/gals

not sure about the dodges, but i lost heat in my old ford this week. a vacuum line broke and the flapper door that changes hot to cold stuck open. the air was warm, but not hot. I zip tied it closed till it warms up a bit and i can actually look at it.

One thing is to check and make sure you hooked up the controls right on the actuator for the flap cant remember if the 02 was vacuum or electrical but sounds like it might be backwards.

It's vacuum,, I don't think it will switch to different settings if vacuum is leaking
I had air conditioning fixed, still won't freeze me out like all the cars we had, the heater never hot enough to cook me
At minus 20-25 degrees I had to drive mine 15-20 miles on highway to get the cab kinda warm

It has something to do with the flapper door. I just spent a small fortune on my rig with the exact same problem.
New radiator,,heater core, fan clutch, water pump only to find out it's the dang flapper door.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

thank you everyone. I have been leaning towards the blend door yet wasn't sure. I guess I will have to try that this afternoon. I will post if that worked or not.
Thanks Again

Blend door is notorious for going bad on 02 Dodges. They also have a problem in the ignition switch that will make your fan quit working.

follow vaccum line from pump back to firewall, there should be a round plastic piece, the line fails around it. replace with new vaccum line.

So, you fix the vacuum, and hot heat magically starts blowing again?

Yeah looked at the Haynes service manual to see if they had a definite answer for you and they don’t even list the problem in the trouble shooting part. crazy

the reason max ac seems warmer is that it pulls air from inside the cab and warms it rather than air from outside.

Have a 98 doing the same thing. Everything has been changed except the hoses (as far as I know) now have a place to start looking. Can't drive the dodge in the winter no heat at all.
