Any of you set with your feet instead of your hands? Any reason not to set with your feet?

Most times I use my knee to hold the jaws open

I don’t trap because I want to
I trap because I have to

I set my Jakes with my feet. Wire springs hurt my hands like heck. Maybe I’m just a wimp. Nothing wrong with it, but I don’t use my work boots from the farm with oil, manure, feed, etc...

Everything the left touches it destroys

I always have set with my feet. I’ve lately done some 1.5’s with my hands but in reality I could never figure out why not

Get some one had setters and you can set traps when your on your knees at the set without missing a beat. Love mine a real time saver as setting a MJ with your feet are not easy when waxed and wet.

Hard to set with your feet when waist deep in water. I set my CDR's and TS 8.5 by hand in those situations(no setters) and pretty much all my water traps. Set all land traps with feet.

I bought a setter. never used to need one. still don't "need" one but sure makes life easier. feet work. used feet for lots of years. bottom line is I just aint as agile as I once was

Years ago wasn't the conventional wisdom that setting with feet was somehow bad on the trap?

I set my 650s with my foot on one lever and a hand on the other. I've never really understood the point of setters when you have hands and feet.

When I work on traps I do set with feet, in the past I have set traps with my feet on the line, one time I just got to wy, my pup stepped in a fox remake, I reached down to help her , she opened both my palms with her milk teeth so fast she nailed both hands before I could react, the next week I set all my traps with my toes, lol catch poles are a good tool

For the most part I use setters for most traps and conibears, hands are just to old and banged up. I typically set the trap on my tail gate waste height with setters then carry it that way to the trap location no messing with it there leaving a bunch of sign. its quicker and much easier on this old man and body.

Way less movement with the setter drop your gear make the set and get to your feet and done adjusting and checking springs is also a lot easier, put on a bunch of clothes when it sub zero and bend over to set the pan and a guy gets dizzy! LOL

If you have a trap that is center swiveled via a j-hook through the frame, you can bend the frame so much that the trap becomes impossible to set.
