If it's the history you're looking for, it goes back to an Iron Bowl (probably before it was even called that) in 1907. Auburn was heavily favored to win, and the field was nothing but red Alabama MUD. Alabama's white uniforms were soon so muddy the team looked red... a sports commentator made the comment that it looked like a crimson tide was rolling over Auburn, and thus was born the team's name, as well as it's slogan.

I think Alabama is overrated, I doubt they could beat the Cleveland Browns.

Doubt we'll ever get to find that out. What we do know though is that Penn State can't beat what it historically one of the worst teams the SEC, lol.

I love to see a good football game and I hope this turns out to be one.
In these games in which I don't care who wins, I usually pick a side during the game after seeing the on-field behavior of the players. Some of the showboating that goes on in football today takes a lot away from the play between the snap and the wistle for me.

I am not a state hopper rooting for a football team. 20 years ago you probably never heard of Alabama, you root for them because they were on top the past few years. I on the other hand root for my team in the lean years as well as the good years. Historically means nothing, Kentucky had a fine team this year, they were the better team when PSU played them this year.

You're right, twenty years ago I didn't watch college ball at all, only NFL. I started routing for Bama somewhere in the mid-2000s, they sucked, LOL. An article I read about Bear is what actually led me to become a Bama fan. At any rate, I'm just excited to watch the best game of the year tonight. Roll Tide.

I too plan to watch tonight's game. To be the best game of the year however will take some doings, I think the Philadelphia Eagle/Chicago Bear game will be hard to beat.

Definitely, Kentucky had its best college football team to date this season. If we played Penn State 20 yrs in a row, this probably would have been the only year that we truly had a decent chance of winning.
If that game had gone even another 5 mins, things might have been very different.

Mostly this is a basketball state, even though we are down well below where we would really like to be right now.

Regardless, we celebrate the bonus of a good football season by our standards, and hope for more in the future.
