I have a bobcat that has been coming through the area. I made a cubby set with some feathers and and lure in it and set my trap about 12 inches back from the entrance. I have a trail camera aimed at the set and the cat walked by looked at the set for about 5 seconds and then kept walking. Is there anything I should change or should I just wait him out and hope that he eventually approaches my set? I am planning on looking around to see if I can tell where he is walking before and after the set I have now to see if there are other areas I can make other sets to hopefully have other chances at him working one of my sets.

Take half of a plump, fresh beaver castor, turn it inside out,and wrap it loosely inside a hay ball.Hang that in the middle of the cubby about 6 inches off the ground with a trap or snare at both ends.It works real good for lynx,it should work for bobcats too.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

Just set where the cat is walking. Can I get an AMEN!?!?!?!?!? Just make a walk through set (a lured trail set, if you will) where the cat walked by. He's already shown you he doesn't have enough interest in whatever you've got in the cubby to change his direction. Cats are lazy, indifferent, ADHD, or whatever, so you have to catch them in the path of least resistance. Think of snaring with a steel trap.

That is the reason for walkthrough sets. Changing set to a walkthrough and offering new attractors appears to be your best bet.

Check the law before setting 2 traps. Unless the law has changed in the past few years you can't set closer than 15' in Ky. There were efforts to get this changed but they were not successful at the time I moved away. They changed the law this year. Now you can have 2 traps within 10 ft on private land with written permission from the landowner. WMAs still have a 10 ft spacing requirement.

I added a flashy dirt hole set with some different lure and bait in the same general area that I had my other sets where the cat was coming through and today I had him caught in it. Nice big male cat. Best part was I had my daughter with me checking traps today and she got to see it.
