How far back from the set are you putting them and are you setting them so critters aren't looking into them? Would like to get video of coyote working sets.

I put mine back about 30 ft but I don't think it matters if your using those black out cams.

Certain types of IR cameras will light up like a Christmas tree when they flash. Have you watched your camera take pics in the dark?

Mine is no blackout. All I've ever been able to get pictures of are deer and coon.

I actually bought black flash just for coyotes and it still doesn't work. They either make a noise or the animals can still see the flash I think because about 5 different times I've had coons crawl anywhere from 6 feet to ten feet up trees to get to them and the I get 20 pics of coon faces at point blank range.

Elevating your cameras can help. It's a pain, but it's worth it. I get pics of all sorts of wildlife at ground level, but many times I only get them once. Some spook at the glow, some don't. Some don't even notice.

Great thread!
I’ve been experimenting with cameras on carcass piles for two months now. Got some cool footage of bobcat feeding on and covering his deer daily. I’ve been running cameras on video mode.

I also put a cam on a trail intersection covering two sets for coyotes. After dark, Some coyotes look right at the IR lens and run away, others look right at it and could care less.
Been trying to share my videos on this forum for a few weeks now. Can not figure-it out, should not be this hard, never an issue on any other websites.
Got video of a coyote walking right up to a 3 day old pipe set, smells it and runs away.
Got videos of multiple coyotes urinating on post set.

I have learned at TON watching these dogs react in an area I just set on. I don’t believe you’re doing anything wrong. Most of coyotes I’m getting are scarred of the IR on camera after dark.

Bear and moose could care less about the cameras. Deer are less tolerant. Haven't picked up enough coyote to make a judgment.

Been playing with a few cameras myself and put out 4 new Brownings now. These Moultrie IR's spook a lot of critters. This trail camera stuff sure is addicting. I am as excited to check the camera as I am traps now. Playing with a video mode on one of them now on a wolf pee post. [Linked Image]

I'd be excited, too. Great pics! I run quite a few cameras and it is addicting. Not trying to tell you how to spend your money, but if the Browning's ever let you down, try some of the Bushnell cameras. I've heard great things about the Browning cameras, but the two I owned didn't serve me well. The Bushnell cameras aren't terribly expensive and they have been bulletproof for me.

Awesome!! Looking forward to more pics!

I run the Browning dark ops. It's a no glow. You loose range on night pics and brightness... anything withing a decent distance usually show up fine...but, there no lights glowing to spook the critters.

Another trick I found is huge, I started doing it just to try to avoid theft but I hang it 8 foot or so high. I carry 1 climbing stick with me and attach it to the tree to hang the camera.

I found it really helps keep animals from spooking. It's "out of their world". And they don't seem to notice it.

Upload them to YouTube and then bring them over here. It's easy.

You might find out that animals don't spook as bad when in video mode. I think the flashing of several pics spooks them worse. And I run about all dark cams. I can even set eye level and not spook deer or yotes on video.Plus on most cameras the video is more clear than set for pics at night.

Make sure to check the effective range of the "trigger" or you might be wasting time.

Would I have to create a you tube channel or something?

Im using wildgame innovations blackout cams. Ive not had anything spook from them. They dont make any noise or emit any light. I had a moultrie cam and i couldnt get it to trigger when fox came through. It triggered fine on deer and such but i had a few fox dig out my trapless dirtholes and never take a video. Switched to wildgame and their trigger is alot more sensitive.
