And today, I had a squirrel in my 160 box set. Caught him behind the rib cage. He wasn't happy.... but is now in a dirt hole set. Tail up. We'll see what it brings in.

Dogproof trap to catch them before they plug it up.

Why are you using coni's after 12/10? I'm familiar with the region you're trapping. There are fisher there and the only thing (legally) you can do with a dead fisher this time of year is turn it over to the DEC (pelt and all). And you're just depleting your fisher population for next season, especially if your incidentals are females. Even though we can still legally use coni's in land sets after fisher season (only outside of the Adirondacks), it's just prudent not to do so. In my experience with trapping near your area anytime the temps are >30F the possums, coons, and skunks are running. If they're really clogging up your sets then wait for colder temps. TDHP is right. I have even caught them on a few drops of homemade weasel gland lure with no food bait at all. If you do happen to switch to footholds be sure you dispatch any possum that you catch (especially females) to thin them out for next season. Sorry, there are absolutely no fisher's where I trap. and I let possums go. They eat ticks.

If you release a possum today, tomorrow you catch a possum with a sore foot.

"They eat ticks." Now I have heard it all. They also eat cockroaches, rats, and mice along with dead and rotting flesh. Not a bad thing to have around, but a nuisance in trapping season. They can eat thousands of ticks a week.

How do I keep Opossums out of my conibear box sets ? The only two ways are to put the possums in a pen and feed them or to put their hides on a board. Well, I guess you will keep on catching possums. As a rule every possum you let go can be caught ~50 more times and will have ~1000 babies. Good luck.

... there are absolutely no fisher's where I trap... These were taken this Nov/Dec from the WMU where you're trapping:. So from across cyber space, you know where I trap, where I live, what I do for a living, and how many deer I took this season.... and how often I trap during the season. Congratulations.
Just a weekend trapper...
