If I can I often use a sled to haul by hand. If it is a tough walk use rope. Parachute cord cut long enough to go from a front foot to a rear foot. Of course you have to adjust depending on the size of the critter. I slide a piece of heavy duty clear plastic tubing on to the rope/cord, about as long as a suit case handle. Then you can pick just as you would a suit case. It works pretty well. I am not quite as strong as when I started in the 70s so sometimes if I have much luck it is a several trip deal. Mac

Piece of rope if it's a ways. Slip knot onto a back leg and front leg and loop rope over your shoulder and carry like some guys carry their purse, lol. I have used a sled but it depends. If you're fighting through thick brush, a sled isn't going to help much. Across open fields on wet snow, a sled its a cakewalk. But I like the webbing idea. I been meaning to make some kind of shoulder saving strap. I have also used a stout beaver cutting for a handle and wired a front and hind leg to it.

Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.

Ive told on here I don't know how many times, but I guess no one is interested or tried it. Michael, one beav ain't a problem, two or more are! But I will tell again, for you buddy! I always carry lopping shears and wire when trapping beavs. Cut two poles with your shears, I usually use willow, as there is a lot around the beaver swamps. Cut a couple shorter poles, then wire together an Indian travois. I prolly didn't spell that right, but leave a space between the handles that you can fit in, and spread the other end about twice the width so it won't tip over. Wire the two poles across, then wire the beavers feet to both poles and take off. Takes longer to type this than to do it, and much easier than trying to carry them. Good luck!

Skin em In the woods. WE used a pack frame and we normally gutted em before hauling.

We had this problem this fall right after I had some neck vertebrae fused. Surgeon said not to lift more than 15 pounds but the beavers had to go because their dam was impacting a county road culvert. My wife hauled them out and she used an empty 50 pound dog food bag. The bags were that slick fiber-type material and the outside was slick enough to drag without much friction. Cut a couple small holes in the top of the bag to slide a small tow rope through, slid the beaver inside and she slid it across the grass as easy as pie. Lots of other feed sacks are strong and slick enough to work.
