We had a misty rain last night and it turned into that dusting of snow you see on my coyote. Some of the rain was more evident on the snares I was checking to make sure they would still work. I carried a plumbers torch with me to quick dry things up after clearing the cable itself. That's a nice way to go.
I fixed up a few footholds, all of them are bagged and now covered with a bare minimum of undisturbed snow. I expect some snow in the next day or so.

Looks like your lucky enough to have enough snow to set snares. Been so nice that what little we had is gone making it difficult to set snares. Looks like a brown Xmas this year...

I have caught nearly every coyote with 5/64, 1 x 19 cable, and a cam loc with a dispatch spring. I have had one chew out with the 1/16, 1x19 cable.

My bear is still out cruising. Something must be wrong with him.

Nice is right! I had a frustrating day today. Caught my 3rd otter today but as I approached it, it slipped out of the trap and dove into the river before I could do anything. It was a toilet set but too much ice to use a drowning rod or cable. Really tore up the place and not sure if I should remake it or not. Oh-well, that's trapping for you?

Way to go MnMan ! I limited out on otter today too. That's a long stake at the top of the spillway of a beaver dam, holding a CDR 7.5, my choice in footholds for otter.

Good job, Les and all who have posted! Always fun to see the pictures of the catches.
I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

Good job everybody on your recent catches! 20scout its hard to watch something slip out of a trap when your walking up to it isn't it. Had a cat do that a couple of years ago. Just sat there in disbelief. The end of the week here has uneventful. We really need some snow. Cannot pick up any new sign in the crust we have. Going to go check out a new farm this weekend, they have a couple of bone piles out. We will see if anything is going on there. Very had to watch especially with Things being as slow as they have been. Even the crust is gone. Looks like a brown Christmas this year! Keep up the good work everybody!
