I just grab a trap and start cutting and welding. I know I cut .250 steel rod between 16" and 20" for the longs and 7" for the cross bar.

I have a 3Lb steel block. I drill one hole the right depth to make the first bend. Then On the end of the block I have a tab welded on so when I make the first bend all I have to do Is rotate the rod so It goes under the tab and I make my next bend. This hole Is the right distance from end of the block to make the perfect bend. NO need for any heating just use a hammer to make the bend.

If you're building them right you don't bend them at all. Just weld a little piece of rod or flat stock on the inside of the upright bars. That way you can hammer them in if the ground is hard. Put two cross bars, one just low enough to set your trap upside down on the stand, should you ever choose to do so, so it doesn't interfere with the dog's function. Put the second bar low enough to hold the trap 5" off the surface of the trail and have 6" of rod below that to stick in the ground. The cross pieces are however wide your 160 is to the outside of the rivets across the center. I'd say 18-20" on the uprights and just 1" long pieces to hold the trap up in position.
