As I travel my line, I have been running into a group of three young of the year raccoons. They are well furred. I do not have a bunch of coon experience, but it sure seems like they are clueless. They just sit out in the open. No adult around. Should there be?

Anyway, do I leave em be to grow for the future, or do I “ put them out of their misery” and put them on a board. If they are indeed going to starve anyway as they huddle up alone in the field.

Thanks for any advice.

Sounds like they could be a late litter and mom is laying in a ditch or said cya. Whether they make it is anybody's guess.

You should shoot them. It is the humane thing to do.

Leave them, unless you have a use for them, they may become an important food source for other wildlife.

yep let nature take its course. Small coon are not worth the time putting them up so let them live and grow if they will, Next year they might be worth $10 instead of a couple this year..

kinda odd they are huddled up out in a field rather than in the shelter of a hollow in a tree, hole in the ground, old building, farm machinery or any of the other 336 types of shelter a coon will use.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)
