the GFI is detecting voltage on ground , that is why they trip.
if you were on a GFI before , one or the other gfi might be bad , they do go bad they do not last forever.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Normally there is one GFI per circuit I believe. Are there more appliances plugged into one or the other circuits that the tumbler is pushing them over the edge? GFCI’s do not trip because of being overloaded, but because of detecting voltage on the ground.

Daisy-chaining GFI’s wasn’t always allowed or common. Wistrapper, is it 2 different GFI’s that it was plugged into, or the same one linked to the whole circuit?
Boco couldn't catch a cold. But if he did, it would be Top Lot.

Check and see if the polarity is reversed on that outlet.
The bitterness of poor quality last a lot longer than the sweetness of low price

I would like to see the size of your tumble if you need 3 phase (480 volts) to run! Don't have to be 480 volts to be 3 phase. Seen several 208 volt 3 ph motors. In fact unless its a factory or big business most places don't even have 277/480 panels.

I have 3 phase motor with a variable frequency drive on my fur tumbler. It was working great, then I plugged it into a different outlet on the same circuit. Now it blows the GFI after 1 or 2 revolutions. What would be causing this and how do I fix it. Thanks in advance. Is this the first time you used it this year. If so the motor could be going bad. Sounds like the windings may be getting burnt inside the motor. Or as Green Pete stated the gfi could be going bad.

I have 3 phase motor with a variable frequency drive Is your drive converting single phase to three phase? If so, you may not be getting three phase out of your drive. We used to use converters at work to be able to get the speed control out of the three phase motor. It's been a long time since I hooked one up, and If I remember correctly, you have to input 220 volts single phase in to get your 3 phase. At least that is what ours required. You said you "plugged it in". Are you sure you plugged it in to the correct voltage?
My name ain't Keith
