I’ve dabbled on this sight for years now and I was just wondering is there any western coyote trappers on here any more

This is only my second season, but I like trapping coyotes.

I work on them as much as I can, which is never enough, or as much as I want too. I can think of a couple guys here in NM that are on this site, but they stay pretty busy.

I am, but because of the bounty on coyotes I'm finding them to be in shorter supply so it's more foxes now.

As red said, there are a few of us. I am/try.

If you guys don’t mind me asking What’s everybody’s average year end count on coyotes

I'm at 15 right now, but my goal for the season was 10. Like I said, only my second year.

I ll say this to answer your question in regards to count.
Pre 1992 100 + vacation trapping after work weekends.
After 1992 due to wolves have not made it back to a 100 vacation trapping after work 88 best year fur trapping only .

I'm with Red on this one, I can catch them but I still learn something very often. I catch between 20 and 30 every year on a 42 section ranch.

Red I have a good friend that hunts deer up in the breaks every year and he can’t believe the number of coyotes and the size of them compared to Utah dogs


Thanks guys Im trappping hear in south eastern Utah for two years know only for coyotes and bobs and haven’t ran across a single coyote trapper yet so thanks for letting me pick your brains a little

I have hunted and ben trapping coyotes for some years. Because of the bounty the numbers are no longer there. I use to get about 15 to 20 now maybe 6 to 8.

Muddy I know the guy that traps that country .
About 7 hrs from where I live in Montana.
A lot of guys over in that country really .

Muddy, I'm next door to the breaks there's quite a few of us who get after the coyotes with traps but some of us use snares, others fly planes and shotgun them and during winters like last year snowmobile hunting is popular.
Calling coyotes over there is popular to but we get some wild snow drifts at times so getting around can be challenging.
Last year we had over 148"+ of measurable snow , what fun huh ?
I'm kept busy selling snares and a few other supplies to folks over there .

Don't get me wrong I was not complaining about the bounty. I like the fact you can get 50$ for a coyote even if the fur is bad.

I dabble in it a bit.
