Hello all,

I was just setting for mink here in PA yesterday and I was thinking about number of mink caught/per trap out. I would guess last year I ran 65-70 or so mink traps for 6 days and that produced 6 mink. I had one day with 2 mink caught, one day with the skunk (on mink anyways), and every other day produced one. I am going to try to run at least 50 traps for the duration of the season this year (I couldn't last year due to my occupation) and am interested to see my results.

Basically my question is, how many traps do you hardcore minkers run, and how many mink do you produce a day. I would say 95% of my sets are blind, the other 5% being the occasional pocket. I am interested to see everyone else's "style" when it comes to these little critters.

Now that's some good numbers! One day if I ever get to retire (I'm 24) I would love to run 300 traps.

I am by no means a hard core minker, but I know some good mink locations on my line that produce each year.I set about 10 -15 boxes while trapping other furbearers. In an avg season(about a month to 6 weeks depending on snow conditions),checking on avg every 3rd day I will pick up between 15 and 30 mink depending on population.

little more about here.been runnin this area for well over 30 yrs outta a vehicle and have a list of over 200 stops i've set before and always finding new.with 0 competition right now you could go gangbusters without getting more than 30 yds from the truck.now, why i'm not-waters high and ground is saturated.12 plus inches of wet snow-high of 18 thursday then back into the fifties and rain which it will do cause its rifle for deer....

run hard when you can,i have some unreal memories from my younger years and plan on makin more as soon as that water goes down.

About 50 traps to the mink a day for me with blind sets Never really did the math down to the minute. Add in flooding and its worse. It was more fun when we had muskrats and coon were worth more.

agreed 100 percent.
records show in the 80's i'd average 10 rats to each mink.now its about 50/50.alot has to do with getting better at trapping mink but pop.s have some to do with it.

I would say a 10% success rate is good if you can do it over the long term. usually the catch will drop off of you check them two or three or more times..
