I'm guessing this is for running poll sets for fisher but I can't figure out how it works?
There are two crews on other side about 4 inches apart opposite corners.

I suspect they are a trap holder. You would use two spaced apart on a large tree, to fit the trap size used. Bait would be attached to the tree and covered with boughs over it and the trap.

I don't see how that could be used as a trap holder, unless for a foothold trap.Maybe for under ice shelf on pole set,the notch for a centerswivel and the screws to keep the trap from sliding off until a catch.

Like I previously stated, two notch units would be spaced apart and screwed to a tree a to hold a BG trap just like when using a marten/fisher box, only the trap springs sets down into the notches with bottom jaw of trap on the tree/log.

Would be great for pole sets

You may think before you act. The question is did you listen to your own council?

Boco, I can see what you're saying but it seems like overkill to me.

bctomcat, look at the position of the screws.

The guy said it was most likely for running poles but I just don't see how it goes on the tree.

I didn't understand when you posted about them and now that I see them, I absoluitely have no clue what they are for.

Since this is my first season and I don't have a clue, I'll take a stab at it.
If it's for a pole set, then I would attach it with the bracket facing down hill, notch up. Wire a body grip to the two screws. Wire or tie bait to the pole and cover with bows, making a sort of tent.
It looks like some sort of funneling device, but as I said, I know bupkus. It's hard to tell what it could be without dimensions.

heres a guess. The L bracket gets screwed to the tree. The screws are on there to hold the BG in place when it is set. The notch is to make space for the trigger and lever when the BG is on the board.

I once made a couple of platforms like that to attach to a dead pole for underice beaver trapping. The screws were to hold a coil spring trap in position and the bait sticks were wired up above on the dead pole. I caught a couple of beaver in them. If that's what this was designed for, I would have no idea what the notch would be used for in the board. Got me scratchin' my head.

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

Baited rat or beaver sets it is then I guess.
Went out today and tried to figure out a way it would fit on a tree but no luck.
Thanks for the help

It's a boot remover...
Attach the bracket to your cabin (with the 2 screws on the back) and put your heel in the notch to help remove your boots.
However - it only works if you're inside the cabin and have a hole in the wall to stick your leg through - so it's impossible to use.
