I recently lost my Conibear setters and would like to replace them. The pair I had was purchased at an MTA convention,
And was made by an older gentleman. The design was of square tubing , with one piece of tubing sliding inside another, and two
Hooks on the outside which grabbed the Conibear springs. The handles on the outside came out at an "L " angle, one to be held
By your foot, the other to be pushed down by your hand? I'd like to get another, does anyone know who made these???

I bought them at an Minnesota Trappers Association summer convention, made by a Minnesotan I would assume.

Thanks

If you can’t find one let me know. I have 3 of them and love them but I would be willing to share.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I bought one from him about 5 years ago at one of the conventions. Best setter I've ever used.

I built a some for myself when he quit selling them, or at least I couldn't contact him. I only use them as spares these days and use an RTS setter for my main conibear setters.

The setter I'm looking for is not a gem setter, as that setter is a pull type setting tool. Anyone with a setter like I described, that would like to sell please let me know. The unknown setter is very similar to a gem setter but a push operating system.

Lepus, you are looking for a MJ Setter made by Maynard J. from around the Carlton area. I can't spell his last name, dang finnlanders lol. Maynard was at the summer MTA convention this year but I don't believe he was tailgating.

I don't know his name. The setters you are looking for looks like the GEM setter. But, instead of pulling, you push down after you hook the eyes on a side. That's how mine works, push not pull.

I did some more research, it's Maynard Jokinen, and I was thinking Carlton but it's Cloquet.
He probably still has some setters if you can find his number.

Steven is correct, it is Maynard Jokinen of Cloquet who you would have bought them from. Love my Maynard setter! I PM'd you with the # I found, but can't guarantee it's correct and/or still valid. Happy trapping! ScottW

Since it is a PUSH type setter, if you are unfortunate enough to get caught in a bodygrip trap, it's much easier to free yourself than it would be if you had to PULL to hook the springs.
