I was told that if you find tobacco fields you'll find the hogs. Is that true?

What's a tobacco field? Practically an extinct species here now.

It doesn't take very many uncontrolled random matings of domestic hogs for them to return to their original, natural appearance of a "Russian Boar." This should not be surprising when you find out that all of our domestic hogs originated from "Russian Boar" stock many, many years ago.

Hunting is one of the worst for hog control. One shot the sounders scatter. Worse bubby likes hunting them so he traps and relocates the nasty things.

Here in Iowa ,they say shoot them on site if you see any.then call DNR to get blood samples they want.I hope we do not get them here for all that I read and hear.I was told they are in the south part of the state at the boarder of MO.. I had someone told me that he was told they will be up to the Canada line by 2026. I hope not.But the ammo is ready for them if they show.

Take a .45 or .454 or 10mm with you if your bowhunting...

Been running with a crew of guys since summer , we've been hitting them pretty hard down here. All live catch or knife dispatch . Kind of addicting.

Aaron, sticking a hog sounds awesome, I'd love to try it sometime. I've watched videos of it and it looks like a chaotic mess and a good way to get hurt if not done right. By the way, awesome name, it's my name too.

Feel free to PM me and we’ll see if we can’t get you in on some. Winter is when it really ramps up . It is chaotic, but it’s somewhat of a controlled chaos. As far as the sticking goes , well, there’s a technique to it . And it’s scary fast how quick they deanimate once stuck correctly .

What kind of dogs do you use for catch dogs? Do you use straight bay dogs too?

Keith , we use black mouth curs as bay dogs and “bull” dogs as catchers . Very effective team.
