Thank you everyone for your suggestions.
I tried the dollar bill method last night, and the bill slides in no problem. We were shooting from 100 yards with a shooting rest similar to a led sled. 1st shot is the lowest, 2nd shot is the middle and 3rd shot is the highest. In between shots we walked down the range to see where it was hitting, then walked back. When she shoots she slowly squeezing the trigger towards bottom of breath. Scope is a Nikon with BDC 3-9x40 and came off my Savage Model 10 .223 I bought a year ago, and it worked great on that gun; I took it off only because I upgraded to a scope to see pesky woodchucks farther out. I'm going to change the bullet weight, and not clean it as often and see how it works.

I know that this can cause a bullet to rise as the metal heats and expands (even though it is not noticeable) pushing up the scope up. I can't tell in the picture of the gun as it is too dark to see.

And why wouldn't you! I think Matt28 is right...better ring that one. That was my only other thought, I had a buddy that his rifle would do that. It ended up being that his bell was touching in just the smallest amount right at the flare on the Bell, we added taller rings and the problem completely went away. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

My 243 with a 1/10 twist dont like 100gr bullets at all. I dropped back to HSM 87gr Berger VLD Hunting and she tightened right up nice. Even other loads 70-87 gr shot well.
There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness

with that as a 100 yard group and you were cleaning every 3 rounds then shooting a new 3 round groups quit cleaning
1 and 2 are only about an inch apart that would be very decent for a break action rifle
it will probably never shoot like your savage model 10 different kind of gun.
shoot more clean less I think it will settle right in after about 5-6 rounds to a steady group then you adjust the scope to that.
some people collect first cold clean shot data , it is just easier to collect cold fowled data for most of our purposes because for cold clean you need to keep your cleaning process exactly the same every time and like others stated you can go decades without a full cleaning depending on how many rounds you shoot.
I figure 25-50 then clean copper , then 50-100 clean copper then every 250-300 is a good place to thoroughly clean copper or if it had a hard hunting trip with fowl weather but fire 5-6 to get back to a steady group before your next season.
I have heard of people using a alcohol patch followed by 2 dry patches to mitigate the effect of oil in the barrel before firing the first shot this way they can leave the preservative oil in the barrel till they get to the range run an alcohol patch 2 dry then fire their sighters and it takes from no to fewer rounds down the barrel to be stable. these tend to be bench rest shooters they want a tiny group and know their barrels have a real specific life span of say 2500 rounds they fire 50 a match so that barrel has 50 matches in it
either way be consistent.
2500 rounds in a game shooter like that might take you a life time or two.
bottom line if the 2 together are shot 1 and 2 neither one of those doesn't = a dead deer or coyote at a reasonable range even the high one is still a deer at 100 yards easily.
clean less shoot more and get her off that sled as soon as she has the group tightens up some , your not bringing a sled in the woods she needs to learn to shot off sticks or from a sling
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
