Coon with no tail? I did on my first round of checks here in PA. Of course he took out a nice coyote set but it was still pretty neat to see. Looked just like a bobcat and was totally healed over/something he was born with. Let's hear about any of your coolest catches since I'm sure they get much more interesting than this.

Every year I catch 3-5 coons just like that. Always big boars, I figure must happen during the rut from fighting.

I picked up a roadkill coon with no tail (not a fresh wound) and like LDW said, it was a big boar.

My most unique catch was a muskrat with a white spot and white tip on its tail.

Oddest coon I ever caught had no eyes and the skull had no real place for them to be so he did not loose them in a fight or something was not a big g coon but was in good health

Got more for the raw skull then for the skin

That was back in the early 80s

Caught a three legged coyote. One of the hind legs below the achilles tendon must have been shot off. It had a callus like a foot pad on the end and was a very healthy yote.

A beaver with an odd shaped chunk missing in the tail. It was the 1st beaver I ever trapped.

Thanks for the replies guys. I enjoy hearing about some of the not so normal catches as I'm sure others do too. Keep em coming.

Caught a 3 legend coyote last year, but not too unusual I guess. Pretty cool to see the bones sticking out tho. I’ll try to add a picture.

Caught a stub tailed otter a few years back.

Got a beaver with no tail last year. Just a stump with tail like skin covering the end.
