Hi,My brother and I need to get going on our bucket list. So we want to hunt Antelope in WY in 2019.Will be using rifles. So he needs to put in a week vacation time ASAP. So what month and times are good? And where should we go? Were good hunters but we need to be where the antelope are and have access. We will camp out.No need for a big Trophy. Just something nice to hang on the wall and have some memories.I read units 77 and 14 are good. Thanks for your help! Bill

There is another Forum that has great info. Hunt Talk. There are a lot of out of state hunters on there that will give you advice. I would also advise you to look into OnX hunt maps. They have a ton of features that make it easier to e-scout. Also, you will need to look into the regulations and see what months are open for what areas. There are a lot of antelope out there. Depending on the area you put in for you may not draw it next year unless you have been buying points for awhile.

It's a trappers life for me

I just got back from wyoming with my wife.It was our first trip out there and I would recomend it. There are tons of antelope in Wyoming just units with good access take a few points to draw. Go to Wyoming game and fish and you can buy points until oct 31st. Also on there you can see draw odds for all the units.

Opening of the season is generally from end of September to Oct depending on the unit. If you have a week, hunt and shoot a decent one. You will see lots likely unless they crash this winter. I have been out twice and harvested one each time. Success rates are usually pretty good.....enjoy the scenery.

What does a non-resident either-sex tag cost these days....or a doe tag?

Never mind....I found the $$ on the Wy. website

I also just got back from a successful DIY goat hunt in Wy. To an easterner, the Wy game laws and license/tag process is complicated to the extreme, but can be figured out with time and patience. All the info you need is available on the Wy F&G site but is not always easy to find.

You can find land parcels available for public hunting but be careful to make sure there is public road access because lots of BLM and state parcels shown on the maps cannot be accessed without crossing private land. You can then look at the draw odds for the hunt unit. In general, the hunt units with high goat numbers and lots of public land will take preference points to draw. Other units with little public land have very high draw odds even with no preference points.

Depending on the hunt unit the season dates will be different.

The wyoming private and public land chip for a gps is a must. A bipod is a must as is a rangefinder.

Antelope can be skittish by end of season.
The meat is excellent but be ready to care for it.

Most units east of I-25 open Oct.1st. Plan on going for the opener. Yes, there will be plenty of competition. But there is no shortage of goats. You should have no problem filling your tags in a couple days.

As I posted recently in the thread about Onx Maps, I got it for this hunt but would have done fine without it. The public land I hunted consisted of small parcels 1 to 1 1/2 sq mile size, well marked on the road and perimeter fenced. Onx maps and the GPS was nice to have but not really needed. For larger parcels less well marked it would have been essential. The season in the unit I hunted was Oct 5th through the 28th.

Between bear, elk, venison, and antelope, antelope is our favorite game meat.

I feel the inc maps and such are essential. Where we hunted it would have been easy to end up in jail by trespassing when you didn't know it. Also, we were checked by the game warden. They have an active presence there which is great.
