Also as to now one's DNA is no longer ours. Who is to say it has not been sold long, long ago. I give platelets and blood monthly and have for 50 years so lots of opportunity for sure.

I have no intentions on sending in any of my DNA for testing. My DNA has been spread thought my home state and several others. Christmas is tough enough. I don't need to open up a can of worms that I may regret!

My wife bought her brother a kit, so they can look into help finding his dad. IT has a ton of info ( not that I know how to read it) but my wife is into to that kind of stuff. They haven't found his dad but they are close, have found some close close relation and they pictures look just like him. They are trying to figure out now how they all are related. SO it is more answers then he as ever gotten just trying to place the pieces together is a process.. But to him it was well worth me and the wifes money lol.

Also some how you can take your results and put them in all the other DNA collection sites and get their results added to what you have and build your tree bigger. Or pay extra if you need to know just a Y side of your DNA.. Can be a helpful tool if you need to know just that side. A lot you can do with this, if your willing to pay some extra money. Also a lot of helpful people on these sites to get you the info you want.

Had it done a few years back. Three of my grandparents were Swedish immigrants so I expected my DNA would reflect that. Instead I was startled to find that predominantly I was eastern European from around the black sea. Further research (by me) showed that people from that area near the black sea had left the area (because of roman empire advances) around 2000 years ago and largely immigrated to southern Sweden. The point being that we humans have been moving around for a long time and the tests don't go back just a 1000 or two thousand years. They go much earlier. Therefore the results can be very confusing to us that thought it was all cut and dried.

A friend of mine who was adopted at birth tried Ancestry DNA. Didn't get much results, He then tried 23 And Me and hit the jackpot. Found both parents and a truckload of siblings and cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. Both parents had passed, but he found out he had been driving by his biological mother's house on a daily basis on his way to work for years.
