Now I'm new not only to this forum, but to trapping all together. Ive got a blue zillion questions. Please, if I ever post something in the wrong place, let me know.
I've been studying up on flat sets, that's what I want to use for bobcats. One of the main questions I have is about the chicken wing I plan to use as visual attractant. How high off the ground should it be? And does it matter what kind of rope or twine I use?
Also, should I use any other kind of bait with this set in addition to the chicken wing?

I like a wad of wool w/ 2 feathers stuck to it attached to a barrel swivel. I call it a wing ding and tie it w/ mono about 3 ft. off the ground. It is a deadly flat set

for cats you want to make a walk through blind set with lots of fencing. then add attractors. put your flag in a position that the cat will have to walk over your trap to check it out. flags will cause misses if the plan is to use one to "get the cat in the area".

Listen to Danny on this one and notice "attractors" is plural

Exactly! A flat set does not give you near enough foot placement posibilitys. A fllat set is a great set for yotes, and you can catch cats in them, but for cats, showy is better, and with a walk through, you have a LOT better chance of putting a fickle cats paw on the pan!

I've sure caught them in a flat sets b4 but if targeting specifically cats you can't go wrong with a "flashy" dirt hole with eye appeal
