I was squirrel hunting, sitting with my back to an oak in the edge of an old two track logging road. There was no underbrush around that area under large hardwoods. I was trying to see a squirrel in a hickory straight across the road, looking almost straight up. I saw motion to my right, something large and close coming into my side vision. When I turned my head a 6 point buck was 10 feet away and walking straight to me like a golden retriever coming for a dog treat. It was looking me right in the eye. I was amused that it was going to soon get the fright of its life, and just let it keep coming. That is, until its nose was a couple feet from my hand and I got an even better look at 6 sharp antler points too close for comfort.
It is hard to imagine that it could not smell me, or did not see me move when it walked up. He didn't blink--but I did. I said "whoa, buddy" and started swinging my rifle around toward him. That deer lifted off like a Saturn 5 and landed on the other side of the road. Then went airborne again , then passed the deer land speed record for 20 yards and skidded to a stop. Then it started bobbing its head looking at me and started walking back toward me. It stopped about 15 yards away and began circling. When it hit the scent stream behind me he snorted twice and walked away, stomping as he went.
I hope that deer learns some better predator avoidance skills, or he won't make it through the winter.

I saw a similar video like this. But the buck just stayed there even after the hunter was pushing his boot into the deer. After several minutes the deer was encouraged to walk away. interesting behavior

Sometimes I wonder if deer can have disabilities like humans. The deer that stand there letting you empty your clip until you get them maybe have down syndrome or something.

I had a doe I shot at with a muzzle loader about 35 yards off, she ran off , just as I put the ramrod away from reloading here she is walking back at me she gets to about 35 yards again and is looking at me I raise up and fire again she takes off again so I reload again , the trail she is coming in on all I get is a strait on shot , just as I am pulling the ramrod she comes back in as I raise up she takes off running. wondering how I possibly missed those 2 shots I found a knot in a dead tree and sighted in on it , 6 inches right at 15-20 yards. the sight had gotten bumped.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

The OP's story sounds like a buck that hasn't had many bullets whizzing around him yet.
