Looked at the marsh today and counted 35 huts. Most are just In the starting phase and I have no Idea how many are In the cattails. To bad they won't be worth anything.
But I'll probably trap some anyway.

I can't remember the last time I saw rat activity This early. Normally It's after the first few frosts.
But with all this water my 50 acre marsh has spilled over Into the prison farm lake and the public marsh. Now were looking at maybe 500 acres.

Nothing here that I've seen.

I've seen a half dozen or so houses in the last week. I cover a few more miles than the average fella.

All while Eating gyros and ice cream.

Not too many gyro shops in God's country.

Baudette Bay had a great looking wild rice crop, and now there's houses popping up on it.

Haven't seen any here yet but think I'll take the canoe this weekend and do some scouting. Had some frost here already too. Nice cool temps lately get me thinking of the season to come!

A couple sloughs I trap have construction taking place which is a bit earlier than the norm for me.

Saw 3 huts on a small pond the other day. Nothing on the big stuff yet.

You can't sell what you don't trap...and I'm trapping em.

all the hut material is under 8 ft of water,has been and looks to continue to be.

Nope not a one, drought this summer and rats at a bare minimum in my area.
Oh I do have a farm pond with some.

I am not trapping the few I've seen, they are in the next town over. Some kids will get them.

I had to do a double take and drive back and look at a roadkill two weeks ago. Saw my first rat around here for a few years - flat on the highway.

Saw my first one yesterday in slough that hasn't had them for years.
