I about flipped !!! Thursday I finally recived my bill for 2 drs office visits 800.00 bucks.

I had to go in because I was experiencing high blood pressure, dizziness, headaches.
I put down 40 on the first visit........so roughly 420.00 per visit.

wasn't even in there 10-15 minutes.

this was not a walk in clinic either,,,a regular drs office visit that I made an appointment with.

I got beat out on my health insurance at work thanks to the " affordable care act" so this is all out of pocket.

at first I thought it included the bloodwork bill........nope!! that was 160.00.

I belive in a fair fee for services.....but this is ridiculous!! and why there is a healthcare crisis!!!

Family drs used to sew people up, set broke bones deliver babies etc. Specialists were rarely seen or needed unless something extraordinary happened. Now a family dr charges a hundred fifty to have his office clerk make you an appointment for a specialist to set that broke arm or sew your cut leg.

Welfare is why. anybody that shows up gets treated. Many many many don't pay. only way that DR keeps his income up is gouge those that do pay.

Foxkidd, that 800 bucks would have cost an insurance company 100. Go back, in person, and renegotiate.

Just don't pay it for a while and they will send you an adjusted bill.

Millions of Americans in the same boat. An accident or illness can easily make somebody who has worked to make their family comfortable, penniless. If something cannot be done about the drain the health industry(including insurance)puts on our families now when things are going strong, when could it ever be done?

The health care system in the US is in need for an overhaul. It is a shame that we live in this great country and the health care is a mess. The last administration screwed it up bad and prices are still rising for care and also the cost of insurance has been broken in his time in office.

Mine was one visit ...they wouldn't re-up my prescriptions unless I went in $336 for no reason.

I'm still laughing about an 8000$ bill that was negotiated down to 900$ by my health share. 4 hrs, 1 x-ray, some meds

Just got another for one of my kids that was 1500$ reduced down to 200$ stitches and meds

I paid nothing on either bill. I don't ever remember a reg ins. Co. D! doing that!

$130 here for a Dr. Visit and the insurance pays $20 just the opposite of what it was before thanks Barry! Many labs not covered like before also so paying out $200 is not uncommon. Insurance at least tried to keep you healthy before not it seems they rather kill you and take your wallet.

I had a antibiotic lotion that was $97 (2oz) last year, it was the same this year only it was made in China? Did not know they could sell meds made in China?

I drive to the bigger hospitals for work sometimes and the one in Sioux Falls has a lions share of one area with several new shinny building covering several blocks with their names plastered on them so they are making out OK with these crazy prices.

Same here and getting a appointment is tough here as apparently the doctors need more time off.

The last administration screwed us and fed the health system and the insurance companies.

Like was said before, the medical profession has to increase the price to make up for those who don’t pay. Not to say there isn’t some shady gouging going on also. Look at the numbers of illegals that are getting free health care mad

Licensing creates an artificial shortage and a rise in price for product and services. It is highly illegal to practice medicine without a license, also with the proper paperwork and fee money one goes from common 'drug dealer's to licensed pharmacist. If the free market were free the prices for healthcare would plummet.

This is why we are going to end up single payer weather you want it or not, insurance companies and hospitals are overplaying their hand.

I believe you are right here. Huge profits by drug companies, insurance companies, hospitals, and patients who have no way of paying all put a huge strain on the healthcare system.
The working poor are the most vulnerable of all.

Most healthcare professionals from nurses to doctors will tell you there needs to be a better sysytem in place to cover the costs.

Question the bill, every procedure has a code number, the person doing the coding might have entered the wrong number. Do not pay the bill for awhile. I would go to the billing department.
