Heres how its advertised when looking to purchase.

"Locklear’s Delta Red Lure is a top producer across the country. The formula came from an old school USDA beaver man that piled up the beaver in the delta country. The color is red for a reason. The chemical that gives Delta Red its color is very powerful."

Got me to thinking, what's the red chemical? Is the color red attractive to beavers? After reading this I'm led to believe it. Just wondering if anyone can elaborate. Who is the trapper that's being reffered to? Just looking to learn.

Beaver are color blind, so must be the scent.

Perhaps the carrying agent is what gives it the red color.

My thoughts. But I always thought bobcats saw in black and white but apparently they see green and red better. I just was wondering the chemical. It's probably something silly and common like diesal or something. But who knows.

Trap n Squad you gonna buy some at his booth this weekend in Pearl, MS? I think I'm gonna give the Delta Red a try this season. Always liked Bosses Backbreaker but wanna change it up at some locations.

Yes I'll be there, And yes delta red is probably my favorite beaver lure. It's thick and gummy not watery like most beaver lures. I love the beaver buffet he has for summer beaver work, but fur season delta red is hard to beat for me. For sure not trying to take anything away from Clint because I have so much respect but I was just wondering whats so special about it.

You might be able to get the name of the USDA guy out of him, he's mentioned a few on trapping radio. But I doubt you'll ever get the chemical name out of him, or any lure maker.
