Night shift worker , was asleep when my ex-wife called and told me to turn on the news . About 30 minutes later , work called and said come in.

I was working delivering residential propane near Bixby Oklahoma. Office kept calling raising the price faster then I could pump it. Manager finally called and told us all to go home for the day. Wife was working at the local bank, people were withdrawing there money one after another, so unsure of the future.

I think everyone went on High alert that day no matter where you lived. It changed the world and how we view things for sure!

I was in a College course , it let out early.
A few buddies and myself then drove to Whiteman AF base. We watched every Jet and B-2 Stealth they had turn on afterburners and get it.

Working in Prattsville trouble calls went to the guy's house I was working with and turned on the TV, hard to believe how much it changed us.

Forming bunker walls on a large dairy in central Ohio,was listening to 99.7 the blitz. Back then howard stern was on in the morning and he told what was happening,honestly I didn't believe him ,well after lunch the pump operator showed up and I asked him and he said yes,on the way home I remember passing all these gas stations with lines of cars.I don't think I even new what a muslim was then. I wonder sometimes if how I feel about them is how people felt about Japanese after WW 2.

These stories are wild to say the least.
River Birch, thanks for the photos and the video. I've never seen that video nor did I know that was the biggest boat rescue in history.

Was taking a morning class at the community college and heard it on John Boy and Billy on my way to work. By the time a got to work it was on the TV and saw the towers fall. Had already sent my paperwork in to go to the police academy so I was thinking about how I would be right in the middle of it if it was happening near my home. Sobering thought when the towers came down and I realized yep, you'd have been in the middle of it alright. Right in the middle of that pile.

Did the 9/11 Memorial stair climb yesterday to honor the first responders lost at the WTC. Each participant carried a picture of three people with them up and down stairs for a total of 110 stories, the distance to the top of the towers. Mine were John "Jay" Lennon, Paul Laszczynsky, and Liam Callahan all from the Port Authority Police. At the end you rang a bell for each one and said their names in memory of their sacrifice.

In my van going up mount Equinox to work on the monks walkin cooler at the Carthusian Foundation and felt like I needed to be home with my family. At that moment I really felt sorrow,Fear and Anger all at once. I wondered if this was the start of another Pearl Harbor.

I was just shy of 20, driving my work van up I-77 north heading to mooresville N.C. To fix a forklift, john boy broke into the program on 99.7 the fox and told that we had been attacked. I was the youngest road tech that was there at the time. All the other older techs called “the Kid” to check on me. It’s something that I’ll never forget.
