think ill have to find something from an individual. took semi up to get the clutch done. wife followed me in my pickup. went to a small town used car lot. asked about a ford. guy says belonged to his grand daughter. her boyfriend sugared the gas and locked up the motor. he just finished putting a low mileage engine in it.

sugar will NOT lock up an engine. so I just left without speaking. beginning to think all salesmen are crooked

Just bought my wife a 2012 Nissan murano at a used car lot, I was going to look at one from a individual but they sold it before I got there it was a good deal too tho. The one I got from the dealership is nice and the guy was easy to deal with. When we went to test drive it I ask if he was coming with me he said no go on I said do you want me to leave my keys too my truck with you? He looked at me and said if I can't trust you i should have voted for Hillary! I knew I liked him then. When I came back and told him I wanted the car and named my price told him I was paying with cash he said let's do it. After he told me how much he hated Obama and liberals I felt like I should have given him his asking price.

Musta been a rookie.
How he thought he could give you a solid price in the lot is beyond me.

Sometimes the cost price is hidden in the inventory number!

There must be an honest, and nice to deal with car salesman. I have yet to meet one but there must be one somewhere. Thus far all of my experiences have not been pleasant. It really gives one a freaking headache.

well I bought her a new ford. think I got treated fair. went to the ford dealer in Louisburg ks. found the car looking at their inventory online. emailed and asked if it was still there. told them what id pay and if they couldn't do it we didn't need to waste each others time. was a little apprehensive going in but they were straight up no extra fees ( I would have walked out) or any other bull manure. wife is happy again.

my last car was from a dealership - i knew what i wanted. i knew what i was willing to pay. I was open to their financing if it fit.

i test drove it - all was well, told the salesman $XXXX dollars out the door and I'll leave with it today.
I dont want extra coverage, i dont want paint protections, i don't care how you make that number happen - but that is what I'm willing to pay.

the finance guys almost bit the big one, but since he wasn't privy to my speech - I gave him the condensed version, you ask me for one more extra and you can go tell mr. salesmen why he didnt get his sale. - the rest of it went smooth as silk.

for me - its going to be an easy process - or its not going to be a process at all

I bought a new to me duramax 6 months ago. I had never financed a rig before and this was gonna be the first.

I show up take the truck for a spin look things over. Told the vulture that was hovering over me that I wanted to discuss is privately with my wife. Asking price 31k. I told my wife I wasn’t paying a cent over 27k. She said ok.

We proceed to walk in there and sit down at his desk. Start talking and he says ok shall we draw up the paperwork, I said ya for 25k. He literally laughed at me and told one of the other salesman’s at the other desk “he just offered 25 for that blue duramax out there” while chuckling. I told him if he did that again I was gone. I work way to dang hard for my money. Man that made me mad. I shoulda just walked out but I really liked that pickup. My wife is getting rather embarrassed at me at this point and I can see her staring at me like hey calm down. We go back and fourth. He’s claiming they paid 30 for it blah blah. I finally get him down to 27,500 and a full tank of fuel

He brings out some paperwork and it shows 800 in fees. I told him that I wasn’t gonna pay for it. He said yes you have too. I said sir if you want to make a deal you will take those fees off

I drove home a new pickup.

My dad once went into the stealership during the recession. Was looking at a car for Mom. Brand new ford. Don’t know the asking price but he literally offered half. They said absolutely not. He handed them a card with his number on it. 3 days later they called and said come pick it up.

Consumer Reports used to sell a New Car Buyer's Report. It cost $15.00 and was for a specific year make and model. It showed exactly what dealers across the nation paid including all available options and trim packages. It included dealer regional incentives, dealer volume incentives, rebates and financing options on whatever vehicle you ordered it for.

I used it three times on three new vehicles and it was absolutely the best money I ever spent. Being armed with the information in those reports allowed me to save thousands of dollars I might have otherwise not gotten knocked off the asking price.

In 2009 I bought a leftover 2008 Tundra. They were asking $32,800.00, I ended up paying $24,600.00. After a long negotiation I had whittled the price down several thousand and we were about to close the deal. I ask him if Toyota was still offering the $4,000.00 rebate on last year's model trucks (I knew they were because of the report). After a lengthy private conversation with his manager the somewhat angry salesman admitted they were and had to knock that off his price.

Had I not ask, they weren't about to offer. They would have pocketed that $4,000.00!

Three months ago I bought my wife another new car after hers was totaled when a couple of young girls rear-ended her vehicle. The first thing I did was look to buy the New Car Buyer's Report from Consumer Reports. IT IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE!

Best I could do was see what her particular make and model were selling for on average in my area and get a couple hundred knocked off that. I still paid around $2,000.00 less than list price but nobody pays list price...

A buddy told me later that certain credit unions issue a similar report. I'll be looking into that before my next purchase.

Eh...wot?

Dont rely on True Car. It is surely funded by dealers. Not for consumers as they want you to assume.

I hate it when the dealership tries to tell you how to vote on the manufacturer survey. I'll fill out the survey however I feel based on the service provided.

That's where Consumer Reports sends you now with their Build & Buy Car Buying Service. It's a True Car service and it's a joke. I'm very disappointed with the way Consumer Reports has sold out over the last several years.
