Looking for a bulk brushkiller to take out alder root suckering in area cleared and restored to prairie wildflowers. Have been grubbing them with a small mattocks as they get a couple feet tall but they are like hydra's - grub out one and several more grow. @,4-D shouldn't hurt grasses but not positive on wildflowers. Want to know if overspray is danger or if I need to surgical target alder w/ brush- on application or something? Wish I could prescribe burn but too unsafe/complicated.

Torodon applied to each sucker. No spray. X2. Tordon RTU (ready to use) is the best you can use for brush, and usually is about $15-$17 a quart, just cut sucker off at ground level and apply a small amount to the stump. DON'T use 2-4D as like said it will kill ALL broadleaf plants it contacts.

So will Tordon. 2,4D can be used for stump treating just like Tordon can. If you already have the 2,4D there's no reason to buy something else. If you have to buy one or the other, buy the Tordon.

Nothing is ever easy. Looks like a targeted application is needed(but more time consuming). About half my area is mow-able, the rest too rocky. Should have Rounduped before I started reseeding.

I do have a new area of goldenrod that I want to kill to replant would Torodon be more economical to buy bulk than Roundup? Can you get it at like Tractor Supply store?

Wouldn't make sense to buy Tordon for goldenrod. If you want to kill everything, buy glyphosate/roundup. If you just want to kill the broadleaf weeds, buy 2,4D. Whatever you buy, spraying on full grown goldenrod this time of year isn't going to work out well. It'll need mowed first and allowed to start growing again.

Have you thought of burning?
Buy a "Buckthorn Blaster" to apply the herbicide to the cut stump. It will make your effort much easier and more effective, especially if you add a dye to the herbicide.
