Lynx look bigger because they have longer legs and a slimmer /longer frame. like a daddy long-legs with fur. Plus the fur on a lynx is very long making them look bigger. Think of an average red fox versus a gray fox. Reds have longer legs and longer fur making them look bigger. Grays have a thicker frame and generally more fat. but have shorter legs and look smaller.

Great cat Taxi, did that one go 38 lbs, have a couple of friends in Bozeman that weigh a few 36 lbs was their largest for those AWESOME WESTERN CATS.We have large cats but not nice cats compared to the western cats, some are not too bad here, but still day and night difference.

I couldn't even come close in print, to the way she expressed it at the time, so I figured I'd just leave it at that.LOL

I rarely weight them. I measure tip of nose to base of tail. 31" is a typical XL. 36" is a monster (assuming normal body proportions).

I was talking to DNR recently & they told me bobcat size in Wi's Southern Zone has increased since our harvest season started ~8 years ago. The cats seem healthier so they say. Wi has done a ton of cat research in the Southern zone.

Yup! If you haven't near stepped on one of heard one on a limb above you, you just can't be a real life bonafide cat trapper yet LOL

I've caught 3 over 40 pounds.

There's nothing like cat trapping. So many stories and so many exciting times.

Biggest lynx I ever weighed was 35lb.only weighed a few out of many. Some were over 40 for sure.
Average adult lynx is 25 to 30.
Lynx are decieving to look at because of their long thick fur some look much bigger than they are.
I always go by pelt size to score size.

Having weighed hundreds of western cats, I have only seen 4 go over 30 lbs. biggest being just under 35Lbs.

I have a female now at the taxidermist, weighed 36lbs

There was only one form out of around the 30 or so he could get that it would fit, he thought it was probably the biggest cat he's seen.

A lot of those houndmen are like trappers (I know, I'm both) and those cats never seen a scale. That being said, biggest I've ever hung on the scales weighed 41 1/2 pounds. I've caught three in my life that I know were bigger than that one. One of them the day before. The biggest I ever caught was in Wyoming and I honestly figured him at around 50 lbs. I actually made a wider stretcher to stretch him on he was so big, and he still stretched 56 inches.
