Been wanting to do this for a while made this out of a galvanized water tank I found in inlaws junk pile. I welded 10 pieces of 3/4 inch angle iron length wise to give the ground some texture and filled it with sand. One less trip around the plots now. I added a set of 3 point pins so I can pick it up to transport down the road.
I planted about 6 acres of winter rye and then broadcast red clover and rolled one more time plus just got a nice rain this morning

Any chance we could see a close-up of the roller?

cool idea ya came up with. what type ford tractor ya got there? I am always on the look out for older fords, masseys, and small to midsize farmalls.

Frame is 3 inch channel, 7/8 rod through center of tank and welded and some pillow block bearings from farm store.
Tractor is a 1964 Ford 2000

I really like this idea. I need a cultipacker but don’t want to spend a bunch of money on it. Never thought about making the ridges perpendicular to the row instead of parallel. Well done!!

L1x1x1/8 is a common angle used for bridging on steel joists. 60 lf would weigh 48 lbs and have a wholesale value of about $25.00 and a retail value of about $45.00. For those that don’t buy a lot of steel know that you’re just paying for weight. As an example I see people buy L3x3x1/4 when they could get L3x3x3/16 for 3/4 of the money and 95% of the time the thinner material is more than adequate. Just a tip to keep the cost of the project down.

Looks a lot like the one I built. Made mine from an old 60 gallon air compressor tank. Welded a fitting in the end so I can fill it with water to add weight. Mine is 3pt mounted though. Scavenged for materials and have less than $20 into it.

Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine!

illinideer,
like the cultipacker but more curious about the planter. It doesn't appear to be a standard 8' drill, was it something you cut down in size or found an OEM 6 footer?

Thanks,

Dave

It was an old John Deere/Van Brunt drill (18 drops) that I split in half. My friend took the other half and is making it a 3 point. It was in my neighbors barn when it sold new owner gave it to me to get rid of it. Took a little work to get it freed up but everything works on it. Only thing I wish it had was the small seed box for grass and such.

Thank You, I also have a New Holland TC45D with a loader that I really like but this old Jubilee is a great tractor for it's age.
