Looking for a chainsaw/sawmill attachment to mill 12" diameter X 28" length logs. What I need is about 3/4's of the log for my carvings the other 1/4 I don't use.
My objective is to have a flat side to hang on the wall.
I'm looking for a good chainsaw mill that would accomplish this task. If you can tell what make to get and if they do work to take about 4 to 5 inches of wood of off one side of a log.
Thanks

Have used the kind where you spike a 2x4 to the log, and the saw bracket slides on it as you cut. Fairly cheap, works great. You need to buy a ripping cut chain for it, which is just a chain with only 1/2 the tooth width. Can be had/ordered at most any Chainsaw shop.

How much you wanting to spend? Norwood and logosol make some nice ones on tracks but there between 1000 and 2000 dollars. I think baileys carry the logosol and northeren tool the norwood.

Thanks for the tips and advise. I'm sure that the 2000$ one is better but for as much as I'm going to use it I would prefer a lower cost attachment. I will take a look to see what that Alaska mill goes for. These would one cut about 30 long taking one slab about 4 inches off of one side.
Interested how they work if you used one of the cheaper styles.
