A really cool walking stick/wading staff with a nice hook on the end, it is about 5 feet long. It will be put to good use on the mink line this coming season.

You walk with the closed end of the hook pointed forward.

i'd like to know how many traps i've located by that tell tale metal on metal clink you feel.

I’ll be making me 1 before season this year, very nice one there.

The first one had a longer hook 8" and lead in the end. That one cracked when I used the hook to do a pull up.
So I skipped the lead on this one.
I make them to find traps and help get back up the banks.
I also make them for wade fishing with lead and a brass spike in the end.

i have been saving lots of hickory lengths and drying them in the shop for handles and walking sticks.

I just can't help myself when I see a nice piece of wood I just have to bring it home. My local taxidermist love seeing me walk in the door.
They pay better than you would think.
Old growth chestnut is the most valuable to me just because its very hard to come by

Less than 2 hours work and most of that was the wrap. 550 paracord in what I call the feed bag knot. Undo the knot pull off what you need. There is about 70' in that top grip. I used over 110' total

Now all you need is a hose clamp tight on the bottom to secure your hook and prevent the wood from splitting.

If it has a problem he knows how to get ahold of me and I will fix him right up.
It is hot wax sealed.
