Hunting fishing trapping bee keeping.
Become a guide, do ADC work and sell honey on the side. Butcher/meat cutter is a great field and can make good side money too. Both always in demand. Once you get a few years of experience do wild game processing.
Warden, park ranger, hot shot, forestry,

Also don't pass up opportunities in different fields, you might love a career you never thought of.

Be a fishing guide in the summer
A hunting guide in the fall
Trap all winter
Many many opportunity's in both hunting and fishing. One just has to look and they are there.
I myself am self employed. When I was young all I wanted was what you are looking for and was told there was no future in it. Boy was I lied to.
If you know what you want don't let anyone tell you you can't do it.
You are the only one who can make your dreams come true.
Good luck to you.

Thank you wet dog, do you know what types of licensing and insurance is required for being a guide?

Trapping is easy you say? You try getting your target animal to step in a 3 inch area of its whole territory.

You may have to move for the best job.
Many guide schools out there. Most have financing through the school. But read the fine print. Or you could end up hooked in a job you don't want for 2 or 3 years. Check out chuck Davies in Colorado.

All the career fire fighters I know positively love the job and most say they would never want to do anything else. I sure wish I had known more about that career when I was younger. Just something to consider.

Whatever direction you decide to take, do it for the right reasons.

Also, have you considered going into the military for at least a couple of years? There's numerous great benefits to that and I can't recall anyone ever telling me they regret joining.

Military... Travel to far off exotic lands, meet new and interesting people, and kill'em. Sapper Eagle!! Retired from the U.S. Army never regretted it at all. The five years with the 101st were the best. Yea that's right, I still miss it.

I am a mailman. I love being outside and talking with my customers. It's a great job and I have time to check traps every day. I recommend it!

I'm a warehouse manager for a food company. Been doing it 20 years in January, it has treated me well and gives me time for other hobbies. Currently starting work at 4 am, done before noon.

I am a welder, almost 30 years. I started in a coal mine and when mining took a down turn, I went to the factory where I weld fork trucks. Good job, good pay, co-workers are challenging at times. CNC machinist jobs are always available. Trade unions are good also.

I just graduated high school this year and started as a helper industrial electrician and want to go through the apprenticeship program, from what i can see it can be enjoyable if u r working with good people and know what ur doing. Plus the pay and hours are good. But right now it sucks for me because im always confused and the guy i was put with is very unpleasant about every little mistake i make and makes me just wanna give up and go back to working for a farmer, which is enjoyable but not as good as the trades in the long run in my opinion

I'm retired and like that, try that. Maybe nursing they have lots of traveling nurses, do that for 8, 10 months take off and go trapping. If your not married and are thrifty with your money you'll be okay. Nurses make fair money.

Forestry is a good field right now. We can’t hire college grads quick enough to keep up with the retirements. Good pay, good benefits and the trees are pretty easy to get along with.

Cerified Arborist here....I LOVE MY JOB! May have gone into law enforcement if I were to do it over. I really enjoy being able to see the positive changes we make to the clients tree. Love the outdoors and being at a different job each day. I specialize in tree health and risk assessment. Many avenues to venture into and easy to find a job if you have a work ethic and are willing to learn. Get in with a good medium size company where you can advance. Stay away from the "druggie" companies....there are more of them out there than not!
