Cool fresh water, high protein feed and luck. They don't do well in hot weather, I am having problems here it has been in the 90's for a month.

Fresh water, oyster shells, layer mix and a place to nest with a little elbow room is important stress will slow them down a bit. Any change in feed or extreme stress, animal attacks are all bad for laying.

I'll tell ya

If our ducks start laying and are as easy as everyone says to keep laying.

I'll butcher all the chickens

Chicken: harder, smaller, acidic

Duck: easier, bigger, alkaline

Chickens do not produce very many eggs when it is hot, especially if your coop is in full sun with no shade.

Like said already. Make sure they have plenty of fresh cold water.

Google molt, they might be in molt... if they are going through that it will be a while till you get regular eggs again.

My chickens have been slow here all summer also I think a lot of folks said that in the spring also. I have 20 layers and 20 chicks from this year 3/4 grown don't expect anything from them yet. The layers have been erratic one day 4 eggs the next a dozen then 8 then 6 no rhyme or reason to it could be the heat like said but just not great.

Crush up some dry dog food and mix it in with there normal feed. More often then not an increase in protein will spur egg production and dry dog food works great. Also as mentioned several time cool fresh water and shade. Get some bottles filled with water and freeze them. Put them in the cage and the birds will lay on them or next to them to cool down. It works great and they love it.
