Yep, don't hunt it but am familiar with the area. If you are set on hunting here, I would hunt the area's near private property with crops on it. Don't set up on the property line as you will need landowners permission to retrieve a deer that heads that way after being hit.
Knowing that this public area gets hit pretty hard, you might consider hunting in the national forests, like Wayne National Forest. Do some research of the rules on the web, and you'll have to get some maps, but there are some pretty remote areas that can be found. I believe the main office is located in Athens Ohio and they would be a good resource.
Good luck
Waz

I haven't hunted it but planned on trying it out this year to see if it holds some squirrel. I will say that if you call the District 4 office they will hook you up with info and patch you through to the office right there at woodbury. Everyone is super nice there and full of good info. They will send you really good maps too, on request for free. Good luck!

District 4 office # 740-589-9930

I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

I have killed about half a dozen does out of there through the years. My dad owns 50 acres that abuts the public ground and we have shot at least 10-15 bucks with a few Nice ones. Most of those bucks were run off the public ground right to us during gun season. I have trapped in there a bit as well. The deer are there but there is a lot of cover and a good amount of cover. Definitely need to scout ahead of time. Loo towards the NW quadrant.
