Just wondering what folks are doing with their wolf traps? Dye and wax? or just dyeing them?

I don't wax my coyote/cat traps any longer because all my sets are in waxed dirt now.

If I could wolf trap again I'd wax them for sure.

Dye and wax. Waxed dirt will still allow water to permeate thru the soil and the trap will be in contact with moisture. I do both and still wind up getting some rusty traps by the end of the season. I'm trapping some pretty wet areas though.

I own 2 dozen of them and always dye and wax.The combination gives me better results than either,by itself.

The man who taught me was exceptional when it came to canines. Dyed only, his main reason was wax held too much scent for smart canines. May be right, may be wrong. I do know that when he was alive he caught plenty of incidental wolves, as have I since using dye alone. We cannot legally target wolves here.

For what it's worth.
