A new study on domestic cats and bobcats shows that cats prefer silver vine to catnip by a significant margin. Only 67% of the domestic cats, and 25% of the bobcats showed any reaction to Catnip. However, 80% of the domestic cats and ALL of the bobcats had an intense reaction to silver vine. Reactions were normally intense rubbing, pawing, licking, possessive behavior. Could it be that we should have been using silver vine instead of catnip all these years???? https://bmcvetres.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12917-017-0987-6

been talked about in the lure forum

Tracy (Lazarus) has done hundreds of hours of study on bobcats using trail cams. With some very interesting and unusual results. Such as vine vs catnip odor. Also his research on the type and use of visual attractors is even more dramatic. Many trappers don’t think visuals work or think they just make a slight difference. They are probably wrong about it. But seeing several different bobcats working different visuals on videos is pretty convincing.

Thanks for posting. Strange that no lure makers have picked up on this and used it in their bobcat lure.
