Walleyed: I do not know what part of NY you live in but I would move. I started riding a motorcycle in 1965, never had a accident, my bike makes less noise than most car's. In 95% of the accident it is the other person fault, in most cases car's pull out in front of the bikes. What you need to get off the road are bicycles, the do not pay one cent to ride on the road, in Michigan you now have to give them a three foot leeway. If you can not see a motorcycle you should give up your drivers lic. JMO

If Harley Davidson sets up production in Europe, then GM, Ford, Chrysler/Jeep, John Deere, and Caterpillar will follow if they haven't already set up there.

I'm pretty sure most bicycle owners plus those who walk along those same roads also own cars and trucks with which they are taxed for road usage (same as you). If you are ever walking or riding a bike (or a motorcycle) along a road and a car rips past you 3 feet away doing 65 or 70 you will probably think that 3 feet is pretty close. I'm sure I am in the minority here with this opinion. What I don't agree with (and hate) are those bikers and walkers who use road space to impede traffic by not moving over to the extreme edge of the road when a vehicle approaches.

Based on some chatter on the news, it appears this Harley topic may become a bit of a political talking point in our Fall governors race.

If companies were looking for someone or something to blame for their business plans to move production offshore then the tariff discussions are just what they were looking for. Nothing like having the private sector using government as their excuse no matter which side of the isle that comes from.
Also from a demographic aspect moving production away from a county (USA) with 3-4% of the population into faster growing countries with more youth and increasing incomes makes very good business sense. Older wealthy people don't spend most of their monies on larger consumer good as they age the spend money on 2nd homes, travel etc.

I just don't sense the enthusiasm for Harley's like I did a decade ago.

As the President correctly mentioned, worldwide sales were down 6.7% and sales in the US were down 8.5% in 2017.

Never had a HD but I like them. I notice a lot of folks who ride HD will stop and beat up a flag burning communist snowflake in a Mississippi second when they see one. Got to be good folks right there.
