I'll be coming to the convention this july. I've been thinking about camping out on public land. It appears most of the public land is national forests. Any thoughts on this? Do I need a permit? Are there much for maps available? I'll be camping different locations each night and hanging out at the convention all day. I noticed there are a few small lakes north of US-2.

Just find some woods and go sleep in them, no one will care.

You'll be fine as long as you don't camp at the same location for more than 14 consecutive days.

I would give the local law a heads up so your vehicle doesn't get reported.

thanks for the replies. In my part of michigan, tip of the mitt, I camp just about anywhere with no troubles. But I'm not familiar with delta county.
