The wife is making noise about traveling to see some of her family at Thanksgiving this year instead of our normal trip up to the cabin for our rifle season. That being said if I am being dragged along I want to try and do some hunting. I am wondering if there is any good opportunities for either pheasant or waterfowl around Lawrence. We will be flying so the gear I can bring is limited which is why I am leaning towards pheasant.

No pheasant close other than a game farm.

You will need go west from Lawrence 75 miles or so to get in good pheasant country. There are none near Lawrence. There is waterfowl hunting. Several reservoirs nearby with public hunting. I'd think your wifes family could get you lined out.

If you travel northwest a little up to nemaha county area there is quit a bit of walk in. Not a lot of pheasants but quit a few quail.

Lots of liberals there too, maybe the season will be open on them when you get here!

Is there public land that holds pheasant, Im not opposed to waterfowl hunting but we are flying out so having gear with me would be tricky.
