Just curious anyone do them, going try 1 for the weekend, got sooooo much stuff to sell. Any good hints from those who did them before?

Advertise. Facebook, craigslist and local paper. Keep a close eye on your stuff. You would be amazed how many people go yardsaling and just steal whatever catchs their eye.

Post in Craigslist, include rules such as no early birds, plenty of signs, facebook neighborhood groups. Free popcorn, cool aid or ice tea.

Add 50% to your prices so that when they beat you down 50% everybody is happy.

Put up GOOD signs that are easy to read with large print and arrows, not written directions. If you're off main thoroughfares a ways put signs at the main road but also on the way to your home. I used the words HUGE YARD SALE with an arrow on the main road with large florescent signs and then use a smaller piece of the same sign building materials with just HUGE SALE and an arrow every couple or three blocks on the way to my place. I have had a ton of people tell me they would of turned around before getting to my place if it weren't for the great signage. Big black sharpie on florescent green card stock (Wal-mart sells it, back it with plywood or osb) is easy to see, easy to read and follow. Use at least 4" tall letters, 6" is better.

We have city wide garage sales in town twice a year that's the best time to have a sale brings a lot of out of towners in.

Don't forget to remove ALL those sign's or you will be sorry the next yard sale day.

My wife is a master of not getting rid of much. Location is the trouble mostly.

Have it on a busy road and advertise. People check the paper for this kind of stuff.

The more stuff you have the more people will stop. I made $1400.00 in 2 days. Sold many more expensive items but the prices I had on them were extremely low. It was all stuff that I had around to long and didn't use. Make sure you don't take low offers on the first day. I would tell people to stop back tomorrow and if it is still here I will let it go for that. Many raised thier offer and some came back. When they came back they always bought more stuff. I took a truck load and small trailer to Salvation Army when sale was done. Be personable. Give kids free stuff. Remember you are having a sale because you don't need or want it...

Wish I had more time to trap....

Do you want to make money or get rid of items?I don't go to yard sales for retail prices.Price stuff accordingly and you can get rid of a lot of junk.

I would take any leftover items to St Vincent or the Salvation Army. The only "Good Will" about Goodwill is how they feel shoving all the money in their pockets.Goodwill is a greed driven scam like HSUS.

I've done better on Thursday and Friday and first thing Sat morning.
Depending on what your selling will determine if you'll make a lot. You can over price it then barter.

Regular and kids clothes shoes toys and kitchen stuff don't bring a lot of money. Tools parts outdoor and military gear furniture etc...bring in the money.

Next door neighbor had one a few weeks back and made over a grand.

Joke with people and tell them to make an offer for everything some will make the offer too.

If there is a flea market within 50 miles of you, I would set up there. Better traffic, and you don't have strangers coming up to your house.

X2 ...... There is nothing worse than following a bunch of signs and coming up empty after driving many miles on bad roads. Some people will just pull the signs down by their house first and leave the others up until later (or never take them down). And if you DO write something on a sign make sure the writing is large enough to read without binoculars or a magnifying glass.
