Hitler didn't arise in a vacuum. It was not just his personality that captivated his followers. The stage was set largely by the terms of ending WWI, then the failure of allies to stop the german menace in its infancy.

Even so, there were many, many Germans who opposed the rise of Nazism and never truly supported it. Hitler killed his enemies inside the party and out.


My wife's grandfather was the mayor of the Bavarian city of Dillingen during the '30s. He vehemently opposed Hitler, refused to join the party, and wrote anti-Nazi editorials for the paper. That got him put in Dachau. Somehow survived the war and weighed 85# when released. During his imprisonment his wife and 5 small children were left to fend for themselves at home during the war with no income or means of support, at a time when things were tight for everyone. Nobody would be seen associating with them for fear of be accused of anti-Nazi. They would have starved except many secretly supported them, and left food on the stoop at night....enough to get them through.

It's unfortunate that we are now living in what is being called a "post truth world".

People like us are still gullible enough (me included) to think that truth matters; whether it's regarding news stories, politics, science, biology, etc..

That why it's so hard to argue against animal rights folks, their target audience doesn't recognize that there is objective truth.
Fake news, fake anything doesn't really register as being fake with a lot of folks nowadays. Makes you wonder how it will all end; not good for a lot of people.

We are knee deep in bullshite every day.

It is bad enough that some of the kids of today do not know there 50 states,if the video is fake.it dose not matter because alot of them still dose not know about the history like alot of where taught in school in the past.For what they are taught in school at times it make you wonder. As for the Amish they will fight among them self and also who ever is not in there group.I learn that from the ones that is around me. Also had deal with some also.They are not who alot think they are.

I got a chuckle out of this.

I don't think this is staged. Just talking to a few kids around my neighborhood tells me it's not. Heck, one kid who I took to the gun range a year or so ago didn't know what "conservation" meant or how to pronounce it! He just graduated high school a few days ago! They have been dumbing down America for decades and it has worked.

I wonder if they know by war end most boys their age in Germany was dead and the girls that age had been rape by Russian soldiers.

6 years ago I worked with a Staff Sgt in the USAF who had no clue about Hitler and the Nazi regime. She was dead serious and dumbfounded. My boss and I both were kind of shocked.....these days I don't doubt kids do not have a clue about history as some of them cant even figure out what sex they are.

even if this was fake or staged it got you all talking , remembering and hopefully it will inspire you to teach some young person in your life more about the Holocaust.


Also remember that while 6 million Jews , a half million Catholic's and another 5-7 ,million people died as a result of the Hitler Regime. the reason we know about 6 million Jews is because they were educated people who were recorded leaving evidence of their birth , life and death.

Stalin starved 7 million to death as Hitler was taking office. Hitler was taking notes.
genocide is nothing new , but so few people killed in genocide are well documented the Cambodian Year 1 initiative killed millions how many between 1.3 million and 3 million why such a huge unknown because it is very hard to say they were born undocumented and died the same way. even in 1994 when hundreds of thousands of Tutsi were killed the numbers range from 500,000 to 1,000,000 .

There are plenty of true examples of people's ignorance of history, it doesn't take much digging to expose the ignorance.

The problem with fake news, fake science, and other such things is that even if the point the faker is trying to make is true, it ruins the credibility of the of that particular truth if you use deception to make the point.
