my coworkers uncle has a beaver problem but he dosnt know how to recieve the proper permits to get the permit i looked it up on the dec website but the information they give is spotty.how do u get a beaver permit in ur state? do the dec have to come put and inspect the property where the damage is being done? or do they just ask u what damage is being caused and just issue a permit?

in my state? can trap or shoot beaver all year long. But that doesnt help you any. You probably need to call the game warden and ask them. Better to get the info straight from the guys enforcing the laws.

Turkey, In New York State, The landowner himself must call D.E.C. for the permit, They may want to look at the problem, But more often don't. The NWCO's name go's on the permit as the acting agent. They will tell him on the permit the legal types of removing the Beaver, cable restraints, traps or shooting.

Tell him to call the local DEC region office, and usually ask for the Senior Wildlife Biologist. They will need the parcel I.D. number, and the permits are very easy to get. Make sure they ask for certain conditions to be listed on the permit beforehand...lethal removal firearm-trapping on dam and destruction of dam-trapping within 15 feet of dam or lodge-and cable restraints if someone has taken and passed the class. In NH....after trapping season closes....nuisance beaver can be trapped with a WCO license (Wildlife Control Operator ) costs 10.00 and just a verbal agreement of the landowner is all that’s needed. A WCO fur report is also required to be filled out.
