Starting to research a new charcoal/wood smoker. Looking for a good smoker for the house and possibly small parties. Preferably on wheels and with at least 36" of cook rack. Willing to spend $400-$500. Any suggestions or reviews would be appreciated. Home depot and menards have some decent looking ones. Smoke hollow, Oklahoma joes, dynaglo.

God bless y'all but this is funny. My original smoke was four by four sassafras pole shed wrapped with salvaged standing seam roofing tin, and roofed with the same. The firepot was a rusted out 20 quark canner which we stoke with, oak, cherry, apple, even corn cobs when necessary. This wasn't playin, this was stayin' alive.

Were you cold smoking or cooking in that thing? I plan on putting together a similar 4x4 smoke shed later this summer to cold smoke things in.

Were you cold smoking or cooking in that thing? And if you are bound and determined to "smoke cook" something, make darn sure you get it et up before it takes a rottenin'. LOL! Great advice Hal. Eat up cooked food before it rots.

Do you want electric computer operated pellet smoker, just a thermomoter and wood for fuel or what? You have options in the modern world

I'd seriously consider an electric smoker so you can regulate the heat more betterer. Masterbuilt makes a good one.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

Ive got two. A Bradley and a Traeger. Both are electric. The Bradley burns biscuits and the traeger burns pellets. So far I haven't used the traeger much but I use the Bradley more for cold smoking. Personally I like the biscuits, easier to use and burn a little longer than the pellets for cold smoking. I just got the traeger so I haven't used it much.
Water is good for two things, Floating Ships and making Beer.
