I get calls from people I haven't heard from in forever all the time about wildlife problems - especially asking me to take care of their ADC problems lol. Drives me nuts.

I was seein a young lady a few months back - we broke up. Unceremoniously she just deleted me from social media and totally irish goodbyed me - stopped answering me.

Found out some weeks later she didn't like the trappin, etc (she volunteers at animal shelters and stuff) - but mind you we met because I took care of several problem coon for her lol.

Today, she calls me outta the blue. I answer. She asks me to take care of a beaver problem lol. I darn near choked on my coffee because I was laughin so hard as I hung up.

But begs the question - anyone else get the rep as the area trapper lol and get calls from everyone under the sun to do them wildlife favors? Do you like it or hate it?

Yep. The C.O. was passing out my name like candy to anybody that callrd him with a problem. Then they would call me and expect me to drive 40 miles in the dead of summer to trap the coons out of their sweet corn. The minute I told them I get paid to do that kind of work things changed. I don't know how many times I heard, "We thought you did it for free." Or, "We thought you would do it for the pelt."

Finally I told that C.O. to tell those folks I don't do this for free. And that stopped most of the calls. When Ohio instituted a special license for nuisance work, I didn't bother to get one and that let me off the hook.

I do see folks that harass , maim, cripple, shoot at, all the beaver they have, and when they are down to the last one, they'll call you , in summer, and ask you to come help them out, and they expect you to be grateful they gave you an opportunity to trap. The world is full of idiots like that. Charge them full price for a colony of 10.

Lol trapper les... I live in a community where it matters what your last name is, and it better be french AND you better be catholic. It's taken me a long time to gain trust here as an outsider.

Just happy to be here.

I get calls from cattle farmers all the time. THEY ALL WAYS want the coyotes gone quickly but NEVER want to pay accordingly. I just got them all together one day. Agreed on 100 dollars a coyote. Put 14 farms together. From 100 acres to 670 acres in size. covering 90 miles one way. I run them during Alabama turkey season. Collect check threw mail. Been doing it for years that way.

Just started the nuisance beaver season here.Clients are billed, and trappers are paid by the Trappers Council. Each trapper whose trapground the nuisance complaint is located, gets the first right of refusal to do the job.

Guy in town has a resale shop. He thinks nothing of charging me full price for stuff if Im interested. He had some groundhogs under his place and asked me to come trap them out. Not a word was said about any compensation. I offered to lend him some cage traps and he said, I don't want to deal with it. Well.....as far as I know, those groundhogs are still there.

I send clients cell phone pics of the coyotes I catch. Then After 7 days = usually friday I send them a text saying = How many coyotes I caught how much they owe. And my address . BUT in the past I have = turned in tails. One client wanted tails on a close line. Even had 1 client request = I cut the ears off them , and place them in a box. Thats seamed odd to me, but I got paid smile

I started nuisance trapping for the county a few days ago. Now , right now, we are getting our first good rain and it's been droughtlike in my area, a late spring, and I think a poor beaver catch overall as they didn't have a lot of water to move with. Now, with A good rain, we should see a bit of movement. A nice rain in beaver season would have helped the in season catch.

A wet spring could make for an interesting summer.

take a pair of ears to utah and thats $50. knew a guy i was stationed at in kansas he would stop on every road kill yote he saw and take the ears. Go home on leave and cash in. Not saying its right, but that could be one explanation

The tune changes quick when you start quoting prices. Seems most dont have much of a problem after that convo is over.
