I like those traps with the washer locks. You can just roll the trap over and the un wanted critter can just walk out. Stake It down to begin with and your good to go.

Beav -

I have a couple of those as well. They are very simple and well made, simple trigger bar and entire length is utilized. Who made those? Mine were 1x1 wire I believe, brown dipped. Used to sell them at the coon hunts as well as trapping meets.

You mean the Duke ones? I like that. I have a Duke Extra Large. Been a good one.

I use Williams traps, they are rollovers with washer locks. Have used them for over 30 years, no problems. I like the rollover feature as we have a lot of bears here. They will carry trap with groundhog into the woods then roll it over and either eat the 'chuck or he gets away, either way I get my trap back. I have had them cart off lock door traps for over 1/2 mile, as the bear will stop and mess with trying to get the 'chuck then pick it up, go another 100 years and do the same thing, over and over. Lose a lot of traps that way, or the bear just crushes them. Williams traps bears can stomp all they want and they don't crush. When I did ADC work, if I needed a 12 inch stool to reach some place I just stood on a Williams, and I weighed 325 or more at the time.

If you think the cage is a solution to a torn up spot in the yard, think again! There are things you can do, but if you place them in the grass, you will just have a square spot verses a circle. Take precautions!

I would have set a cage inside the poolhouse instead of setting the dp outside. Can't stick a dp into a poolhouse, nowhere to anchor.
