I bought a John Deere, never looked at a Mahindra. I like to think about resale someday. If you can get it cheap enough I would say go for it. Unless you know 34 hp will be big enough I would go 10 hp bigger, as in whatever hp you think you need go bigger.

I'm a bit partial to Deere as my name implies but I'm not a fan of the Mahindra tractors. I know several people who do own them. Some issues I have seen are parts availability and refusal from dealers to warranty things that should be covered. A good friend on mine bought one and it needed a clutch when it was only 1 year old. Took two months to get the parts as something was on backorder and warranty covered nothing! Resale may not be a big deal to you but it really is something to consider. Also check out the financing of any tractor. I know Deere offers 0% and some others do also. Even if you dont NEED to finance it's a nice option to leave your money in your account making interest for you while you pay off the tractor. Whatever you decide I hope it works well for you! Good luck

Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine!

My buddy had one and had all kind of trouble with it. The service was terrible and parts were not easily found. In the end he cut his loses and went with a kubota. This was about 5 years ago, maybe they got better now.

I guess it depends where you're at. They put them together in the next town over. Can't imagine it would be tough to get parts.

i have an 8560 little bigger than what your looking at. Its built heavier and has better lifting capacities than any other tractor in its horse power class 85hp. Its been a bullet proof machine. I tipped it over and coulnd't get it shut off soon enough and smoked the motor, mahindra relplaced under warrenty not a complaint when dealing with the dealer. was told it should have shut off by itself when tipped over thats why they covered it. I load bales with it and pull a 15 tandem disc with it. only thing i dont' like is the clutch as its a dry clutch so don't ride the pedal with your foot or your replacing cluthes every year.

Dad has a 24hp 4wd. I think he has had it about 5 years. We use it for creating and maintaining small food plots, yard projects, sometimes snow, hauling wood. I have used it to dig stumps out of my backyard and the food plot. I used it to move dirt when I dug around my basement(tractor was to haul the dirt to the pile, I dug it with a mini excuvator).
It has needed fixing twice, once for an oak tree that cracked the hood,(had it plastiwelded by a body shop), and the other time it had a new ignition installed after a thief broke in and took the keys. I think it took 1-2 weeks for the ignition, new hood would have been about the same, but my cousin has the body shop and offered to weld it. When he first bought the trailer there was a dealer about 40min south of home, and 2 years ago a new dealership opened north about 40 min.

For a comparison on service work, I just had my lawn tractor serviced at the local JD place and it took 1.5 weeks for the spring tune up package. So I would say service wise they are very comparable, only issue may be distance to a service place. Dads was bought used so no experiance with any warrenties.

Nice tractors. Lifting capacities are right near the top if not the best for size. My boss bought one and its been good for what we need it for so far. As far as American made tractors good luck finding one. I believe most are made overseas these days whether they say so or not. Dealers have been very good to work with. Two days in we had an issue (nothing major) and they came on site and fixed it up. Get the snow plow with it if you can.
