Idaho State University lost some weapons-grade plutonium back in 2003 and didn't report it until last October?!? And they MIGHT be fined a mere $8,500?!?! WOW! That is a very BIG mistake with a very SMALL consequence!

How much did they lose... grams or pounds?
No matter how pure it is, you have to have a certain amount to build a weapon.

2003 to 2017 chances are 95% of all people in that department are different people.
I had a university loose a server , it was connected to power had an IP address we knew it was online , the person who had been int he i.t. department the longest had been there just over 2 years , he did remember that on the tour on his first day they pointed to that server in the far corner told him what is was and that it almost never needed anything. it went 2 1/2 years without needing anything and in that time every person who had worked on it had left.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Mike not sure how much, but the news story I seen said, " not enough for a nuclear weapon but could be used to make a dirty bomb".

No matter the amount, weapons grade plutonium is not something that should just come up missing. And if it does, it should be reported IMMEDIATELY! $8,500 is not good enough for a fine/punishment.

I looked it up... They lost a gram. About 1/30 of an ounce.
Not much of a dirty bomb.
